In a few months or an years time India would rise to choose the leader for the next 5 years. The last 3 years of UPA II have been painful- both in terms of lack of development and the rise of scams that have engulfed the entire nation. Data has been churned, sliced and diced and presented to us in a variety of ways. Information converted into Data- Data is information with perspective and perspective of the presenter. Almost on a daily basis we hear countries, Industrialists urging India to move forward with reforms- reforms that are mostly based on capitalist sentiments and have nothing to do with the bigger picture that India is.
S&P is anticipating India's rating to be put at Junk, US wants us to reduce our dependence on Iran for Oil, Wipro, Infosys, Vodafone, Walmart crying foul- urging for reforms. Lost in this chaos are the essential reforms that are so badly needed- Right to Education Implementation, National Food Security Bill, The right implementation of NREGA, Pensions, National Health reform- but no one talks about this. These are termed as populists measures..With a country as large as India- I don't think there is any other country who can understand our situation- who can advise us on the next steps- we are 60 years young and can take our own decisions.
We live in very difficult times- the times of Social media..right from the inception of a bill to the endless debates on the essentials of the bills- all deliberations are on the table- in front of our eyes as they happen. Instant reporting is good- but there is also a downside to it. When you see so many deliberations happening- with a nation like India- that is so full of distrust..the rejections or negativity on any bill or law are seen as hindrances rather than a due-dilligence process.
India is losing its patience fast. This is dangerous for us as a society- we have seen what happens when people lose patience. Rajiv Gandhi Assasination, Indira Gandhi Assasination, storming the golden temple, Godhra Riots- all these are examples when we lose patience.
We need to trust, support and be patient- Change requires patience-
as Gandhi Ji once said- be the change that you want to see. This general elections choose wisely- and then stick to your decision for the next 5 years. Rant(against the congress) will not help and similarly chants(NaMo) will not help- But effective governance surely will. India needs to remember Rabindra nath Tagore- and tread on the path "where the mind is without fear"
